Merger and new Development Pathway

We are excited to announce that Gordon FC and Corpus Christi Hawks will merge into one community club effective December 1.

The NSFA has also approved a new development partnership for Gordon FC, Corpus Christi Hawks and North Turrramurra FC.

Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions and answers about these exciting initiatives.

Why have we decided on these changes

1. Why has Gordon made the decision to merge and create a new development entity, is the Clubs in financial hardship?

The club is in a strong financial position, but we have been looking at ways to increase our offering and grow the club while at the same time keeping our community football mindset and approach.

The merger allows us to bring these two great clubs together, recognising the long and proud history of both clubs. We’ll be able to partner and grow into new spaces and with scale.

The new entity allows us to offer our current and future players a development pathway if that’s something they are interested in, while still retaining our community football club mindset.

What does the merger mean for me?

2. What will the registration costs be once the merger takes place?

CCH and Gordon FC registration fees have consistently been maintained at the lower end of the NSFA range. While we are still working through harmonisation of fees it’s our intention that as a community focused club we will continue to offer affordable registration fees.

3. What training will be available?

We recognise that both Gordon FC and CCH have existing training arrangements in place. While we are still working through the exact training arrangements – it is expected that CCH we will continue with after-school training at the CC school grounds and Gordon FC weekly training with an external partner, supplemented with team training as well.

What will the development programs involve?

4. What are the costs of the development pathway programs?

While we are still working through the exact components of the development pathway programs it is difficult to provide an exact estimate of costs. We expect they will be comparable to other local development program options available.

5. What is the selection process for the development program?

We are still working through the exact size and scope of the development program. As soon as this becomes clearer, we can share this information with the club community for consideration.
We will come back with more information shortly as trials will need to take place in November for the 2025 program.

6. Will the development program have female football offering?

We are still working through the exact size and scope of the development program. Subject to having sufficient players at development level, we are proposing an initial focus on U8 to U11 in JDL 2.

Interested players are encouraged to participate in trials (registration for this will be shared shortly) as teams can be created based on number of players operating at the required level.

7. Who will run the development program/training and what would it involve?

We are still to determine which training partner is best suited to working with the club and supporting our development program.

As soon as this decision is made, we can share this information with the club community.

Our training partner will be used to develop and run the trials (November for the 2025 season) so they will be selected and announced shortly.

8. How can I have my say on the development program name?

We’d love your feedback on the name for the new partnership. Vote on your favourite of the three suggested names online

Garigal United – bringing together three clubs alongside Garigal National Park.

Ku-ring-gai Phoenix – great football talent rising from within our three clubs

North Shore Strikers – talented Upper North Shore talent stepping forward

Voting closes 4th October 2024
